Mary Lou Davis Babb

As a member and President of the Board of Directors of the YWCA for six years, was instrumental in the organization of the Women in Transition Program, providing housing and education to women in need. Served as Chair of the Mint Museum Board of Directors, leading the largest endowment campaign in the history of the organization. Co-Founder of the Women’s Impact Fund, an initiative of the Foundation For the Carolinas. Woman of the Year 1995.

Thereasea Clark Elder

Since retiring as a health educator Mecklenburg County Health Department, has arranged sickle cell testing and worked with breast – cancer patients. Educates the African–American community about HIV/AIDS, providing information and recruiting volunteers. Recipient of the Sojourner Truth Award and the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award. Founder of Greenville Community African American Historical Society. Woman of the Year 1995.
