Dorothy N. (Dolly) Tate
Was a leading child advocate founding the Council for Children and Teen-Age Pregnancy services (TAPS). Served on the N.C. Child Advocacy Institution Board, the Charlotte – Mecklenburg Hospital Authority, the Siegle Avenue Cooperative Board, and the N.C. Day Care Study Commission. Received the first Dolly Tate Award from the Council for Children in 1982 and the Alexis de Tocqueville Award from the United Way of America. Woman of the Year 1983.
