Elisabeth Green (Liz) Hair

First woman elected to Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners and served as Chair for three years. Was instrumental in the establishment of an Area Mental Health Board, the Council for Children, the Women’s Commission and the Council on Aging. Founded the Democratic Women’s Club of Mecklenburg county, served as President of the state organization and was the co-founder and first Chair of the Women’s Political Caucus. Woman of the Year 1975.
