Cyndee Gibson Patterson
Was instrumental as Chair of the Arts and Science Council in the outcome of the 1997 public-funding debate, and in the establishment of the Community Building Task Force that received national recognition and became a model for the other communities. Served four terms of the Charlotte City Council (1985-93) and as Mayor Pro-tem (1989-91). Founded “Jazz Charlotte” and “First Night Charlotte”. Co-founded “SpringFest”. Woman of the Year 1997.

Marcia Weinstein Simon
Was first woman Vice Chair of Arts and Science fundraising drive and served as chair of its Board of Directors. Was a Founder of Summit House and first Board Chair, helping to raise significant funds to insure financial stability. Chaired the Boards of Planned Parenthood and the Levine Museum of the New South. Served on the Boards of the Foundation For The Carolinas, the Charlotte Jewish Federation, and the World Affairs Council. Woman of the Year 1997.
