Peggy Culbertson
Co-chaired the Catawba Lands Conservancy’s initiative to create the Catawba Society, a giving circle for their most generous donors. By passionately conveying the urgency for preserving open space in our region, she brought in 120 Founding Members, thereby raising over $160,000 in donations for the only regional land trust that serves Charlotte. In over 30 years of service to the community, Peggy has served as a trustee for Johnson C. Smith University, board member of The Mint Museum and Mint Museum of Craft & Design, chair of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Planning Commission and the Children’s Theatre Board. Woman of the Year 2007.

Joan Zimmerman
Co-chaired the first and second annual Look at Her Power event for Dress for Success/Charlotte, rescuing the struggling non-profit and enabling it to hire its first Executive Director, expand its board, volunteer and donor base. As a board member of the Council for Children’s Rights, she led a highly successful event that raised a significant portion of the Council’s operating support. Her leadership in the community spans for decades and includes chairing the boards of the Charlotte World Affairs Council and WTVI. She has also served on the boards of Discovery Place, Levine Museum of the New South and The Arts & Science Council. Woman of the Year 2007.
